The Ozone X-Madrid marked a turning point in the strategy of the Ozone Group: reinterpreting the traditional bowling experience to connect with a new generation of users in a radically different environment. Located within X-Madrid, a disruptive extreme-leisure complex, the project starts from a raw, exposed shell—unclad and unapologetic—which becomes the visual foundation for a gritty, urban aesthetic rich in cultural references.
The design focuses on amplifying what already exists and adding visual and functional layers that organize the different uses: bowling with a Hyperbowling system (interactive illuminated bumpers), bar area, barcade, bumper cars, and arcade machines.
Each zone is treated as an autonomous fragment within a dynamic whole:
Bowling area: custom-designed play furniture with metal structures and neon-lit bowling pin silhouettes, complemented by bespoke carpeting and acoustic ceilings.
Bar area: defined by expanded-metal mesh screens, metal plate flooring, and a timber ceiling.
Barcade and arcade zones: acoustic carpeting, differentiated lighting schemes, and RGB atmospheres.
Dripping paint on walls and ceilings, a direct reference to the urban artist Craig Costello (KRINK), serving as a visual link between graffiti culture and the center’s liquid, kinetic aesthetic.
Bolo Lamp and “Pin Lamp”: proprietary sculptural pieces made from wood or recycled bowling pins, introducing character and narrative without resorting to literal theming.
