Located on the front line of Puerto Deportivo Campomanes, Macao is one of the trendiest bars in Altea. A long-established venue with a loyal clientele, it nonetheless required a catalyst to reenergize its regular customers, attract new ones throughout the day, and increase overall profitability.
The bar performed very well during the late-afternoon and evening hours as a lively party venue, but it needed to better capitalize on daytime use. A key objective of the renovation was to preserve—and even reinforce—the festive nighttime character. Given its location beside the boats and its generous terrace, the exterior already functioned successfully; the greater challenge lay indoors. Drawing guests into the interior space proved difficult, making it essential to focus efforts on creating an interior that was both visually compelling and welcoming.
To reinforce the space’s daily use, a back-of-house prep area was introduced to allow for the preparation of snacks and light meals. To make this new service visible, an open counter facing the prep area was designed, conceived as a gourmet market stall. This element is strategically located along the route to the restrooms, ensuring that all guests naturally pass by it and become aware of the offering.
Inside, the central feature of the space is a metal palm tree located on the VIP mezzanine.
